Italian international Jorginho’s agent has revealed the Chelsea midfielder’s priority amid all the Barcelona rumours.
Coming from the Heles Veron youth academy, Jorginho made his senior team debut with the Italian club. He spent a year on loan at Sambonifacese before joining the Helles Verona team.
The midfielder spent four years at Verona before joining Serie A giants Napoli. He won the Coppa Italia and Supercopa Italiana with Napoli over the next few years and made around 160 appearances for the Italian club.
Jorginho eventually joined Chelsea for a fee of £50m in 2018. Despite getting off to a slow start in London, Jorginho played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s Champions League-winning season. The midfielder went on to help Italy win Euro 2020 and was named UEFA Player of the Year.
Barcelona target Jorginho’s agent talks about contract renewal
Sergio Busquets, captain of the Blaugrana club who will soon turn 35, is in the final year of his contract. The Spaniard was the undisputed starter for the Blaugrana in recent seasons.
But it has been understood that he will not renew his contract beyond this season and will leave Barcelona in the summer of 2023.
So Barcelona is already looking for several players who can replace him next season. Now replacing Busquets is not going to be an easy task for the Blaugrana.
The Spaniard is one of the most unique players in the world and there are not many players who can replicate what Busquets does in the match. In fact, there are no players in the world who can replace the Spanish.
However, there is someone who can bring something similar to the Camp Nou. And that is none other than Chelsea’s Jorginho.
The Italian is in the final year of his contract and there have been many rumors that he will be moving to the Catalan Giants. Now his agent Joao Santos was recently seen in the city of Barcelona which fueled the rumors. Finally, Jorginho’s agent has come out and has spoken about all this.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Joao said: “We have to deliver in June. We prioritize Chelsea and we are going towards it.”
He further added: “I went to [Barcelona] pray (smiles). I work in football, I have been to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia but also to other places like Valencia and Lyon. I work… I’m Jorginho’s agent, I may have talked about him but also about others…”
Now, from the words of his agent, it is clear that Jorginho still wants to stay at Chelsea, but a move to Barcelona cannot be ruled out just yet.
