Canadian international Jonathan David has emerged as the hot new prospect on the transfer market.

After spending time in various academies in Ottawa, Jonathan David signed for the Belgian club Gent in the year of 2018.

The striker became a regular in Gent’s starting eleven and began to show his talent. He soon represented Canada on the international stage and was named Canadian Men’s Player of the Year in 2019.

David scored the first goal of the game in the 41st minute from the penalty spot to give Lille the lead. He then scored his second goal in the 76th minute and made it 2-0. Finally, Remy Cabella’s third goal secured three well-earned points for Lille.

With this double, Jonathan David is currently the top scorer in the French league. He has already scored nine goals and is ahead of stars like Mbappé, Neymar and Messi.

David has now surpassed Belgian superstar Eden Hazard’s goal tally and is Lille’s top scorer (37) in the 21st century.
