John Elkann reassured “frightened” Juventus players prior to Atalanta clash

In the midst of all the chaos that surrounded the club, the Juventus players had to take the field last Sunday against a tough rival like Atalanta. Just 48 hours before the clash, a court ruling had deducted 15 points from the club’s total in the Serie A standings with immediate effect.

Regardless of the legal arguments, the players undoubtedly suffered a great injustice, seeing a large number of points taken away from them after having to work hard to earn them on the pitch.

So, according to Corriere di Torino via TuttoJuve, Juventus majority owner John Elkann visited the team’s locker room before the clash against Atalanta.

The source says that the boss reassured the players, stating the management’s intention to defend their rights. The report adds that some players were “disoriented” after the recent events, while others were “scared.”

Juve FC says

In the coming days or weeks, the club’s lawyers will file an appeal with the Olympic committee, and we can only hope that they are successful in their attempts to lift this severe sanction.

But with all the turbulence surrounding the club (including lawsuits and further investigations), the players are rightfully terrified of the situation, and a few words of comfort from the owner are unlikely to make much of a difference.

Unless we start to see positive developments at a concrete level in the coming months, the mood in Continassa will remain sour.
