The 6’6″ Joyce (14-0, 13 KOs) outboxed Parker (30-2, 21 KOs) today at the final press conference. Joyce appeared considerably taller and heavier than the 30-year-old Parker.
Joyce says she hopes Parker can be on his bike on Saturday night instead of standing and trading like he did in his last two fights against Derek Chisora. Parker has won the last five of his contests since he lost back-to-back fights against Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte.
“We are ready to fight and we want to move on. Fight night is coming and may the best man win,” Joe Joyce told ID Boxing about his fight this Saturday night against Joseph Parker.
“I was friends with him before. I met him in Vegas a couple of times. We’re going to punch each other in the face and body on Saturday night. So we have to put that aside and get down to business because it is a sport. It is a brutal sport.
“Yes, this is not about speed. I have time, I have experience and I am tough and stuff. I’m not just tough and I can take a shot and throw a lot of punches. There is also more in my game.
“I think it will be fast, technically good. He can take a shot, and his footwork and head movement can be difficult early on. It will definitely be a game, trying to steal the rounds.
“It’s going to be a really tough fight. He could be. I could give it a try,” Joyce said when told that Parker could be on her bike Saturday night. “I don’t know exactly what his game plan and tactics are, but we’ll find out.
“I have many plans A, B, C and D if he changes things. It’s going to be a great fight, technically and physically. We’re both going to try it out to find out who’s the better Joe.
“Let’s see what happens. All this talk and stuff is one thing, but really, in the ring, we’re both going to come from big training camps, and it’s going to be fireworks and explosives and we’ll see who’s the better Joe. This Joe for arrest,” Joyce said.
