Jean Pascal agrees to VADA drug testing for Josh Buatsi fight

Jean Pascal will avoid further career controversies after agreeing to strict drug tests for her clash with Josh Buatsi.

After Lou DiBella outbid Eddie Hearn for the rights to stage the IBF-stipulated fight, the conversation immediately turned to Pascal’s past PED failings.

As World Boxing News revealed at the time, Pascal had not entered a show in July, as previously stated. However, he is now enrolled.

Jean Pascal VADA Inscription

“Mr. Pascal has not re-registered with VADA. I believe he intends to re-register,” VADA’s Margaret Goodman told World Boxing News.

Asked if Pascal had signed up for the show, he stated in his statement, Goodman added: “He is not at this time.

That statement came on the back of Pascal’s flag for four separate banned substances. He broke the record set by Jarrell Miller for his clash with Anthony Joshua.

Promoter DiBella responded to a fan who told Pascal that signing up for tryouts wouldn’t be a problem.

“It’s not. Jean agreed to the VADA test yesterday before someone indicated it was a requirement,” DiBella said.

“He understands why it is necessary and wants to show his commitment to clean sport for this fight and in the future.”

Where will the Buatsi vs. Pascal be played?

Regarding the event itself, DiBella immediately handed the fight over to Frank Warren for a UK showdown later this year.

“Delighted that Lou DiBella won the Pascal v Buatsi auction. We will work with Lou to put together this great fight in the UK. Details to follow.

“PS: I hope you enjoyed the Furocity case, Lou,” Warren said in a clear jab at rival Hearn.

Buatsi was recently photographed at Frank Warren’s latest show alongside his light heavyweight rival Anthony Yarde.

I am sorry

As for Pascal, he still has a lot to prove after his failures. However, he has since triumphantly returned to action.

The Haitian-Canadian defeated Fanlong Meng in May to set up the opportunity against Olympic medalist Buatsi.

As for his misdemeanors, Pascal apologized once the dust settled despite calls for a lifetime ban.

“I am so embarrassed by this situation. I disappointed my fans, my family and my team. So sorry.

“I know that people will not believe what I have to say. This is fine because I understand that all that matters is my next actions and not everything I can say.

“At the end of the day, I am responsible for everything I consume. I take the blame for everything that happened. It won’t happen again.”
