James Pearce drops the Liverpool ownership news everyone’s been waiting for

James Pearce has reported that “Liverpool ownership is expected to change hands in 2023” amid an ongoing search for potential suitors.

The Americans first announced their intention to seek new investment in the club, although they did not rule out the possibility of a full sale.

“Ownership is expected to change hands in 2023 and, crucially, Gordon has stepped back from the day-to-day running of the club to oversee the sale,” the reporter wrote for The Athletic.

From Mukesh Ambani to Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment, a host of names have been linked with the club, a group Manchester United recently joined following the similar announcement from the Glazer family.

The news should come as a huge relief not only to fans but also to back-room staff at the club after a number of key departures were reported, including sporting director Julian Ward and research director Ian Graham.

Getting new owners as soon as possible, preferably before the summer window hits, will be crucial to bringing in replacements across the board and promoting an image of stability ahead of our transfer market share.

Hopefully, too, depending on funding, such a change will allow us to be competitive and actively seek high-quality additions at a time when our midfield is in desperate need of serious investment.
