The former Manchester United player and academy graduate issued a statement after making a permanent move to Premier League rivals Everton.
Garner made the move to Merseyside in a deal worth £15m, a figure most supporters felt was too low considering the 21-year-old’s potential and caliber.
In an impassioned statement via his official Instagram social media account, Garner praised his former partners at United and their coaches.
Garner says: “It is impossible to summarize 14 years of my life in a single post.”
“I came to the cliff at 7 years old and left Carrington a man.”
In the social media post, Garner calls playing at Old Trafford both domestically in the Premier League and in Europe a dream come true.
Curiously, in greeting the coaches who helped him develop at the Theater of Dreams, Garner left out Erik ten Hag.
“To all my coaches, from Eamon Mulvey to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, from the props to the security, from the physios to the canteen staff, and everyone in between.”
“I want to thank you all for everything you have done for me and my family.”
It’s not hard to see why Garner didn’t pay tribute to Ten Hag, the manager who sanctioned his departure. Many fans also feel that the 21-year-old was not given a chance to prove himself on the side.
He goes on to say, “It’s time to take the next step in my career. Once red, always red.
