Isaac Cruz To Tank Davis: “Come On, Don’t Run!”

By Adam Baskin: Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz sent Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis a message after his crushing second-round knockout victory over Eduardo Ramirez last Sunday, saying, “don’t run.”

As far as Pitbull Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) is concerned, he has done enough to earn a rematch with ‘regular’ WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis after losing a questionable unanimous decision in 12 rounds against him last December.

Cruz, 24, has won his last two fights since that loss, and he feels he’s done enough to get the rematch with Tank now.

Additionally, Pitbull Cruz points out that the fans are the ones demanding the rematch, as they were yelling at Tank to fight him again immediately after his victory over Ramirez (27-3-3, 12 KOs) last Sunday night at the Crypto Arena. In Los Angeles.

Tank was in the audience, and the fans let him know that they wanted to see the rematch with Cruz next. It looks like Tank will fight Ryan Garcia in December if they can trade the fight.

Last Sunday, Tank suggested that Pitbull Cruz fight Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero next, which sounds like a good idea, but is doubtful it will happen.

Rolly doesn’t seem interested in fighting Cruz, as he feels he should get the rematch with Tank based on his popularity.

If Rolly took the fight with Pitbull Cruz, it would be a huge win, with the winner in pole position to fight Tank in a rematch after he takes on Ryan Garcia in December.

Other options for Pitbull Cruz:

Michel Rivera Edwin De Los Santos Joseph ‘Jojo’ Diaz Jeremiah Nakathila

“We didn’t expect the fight to end so quickly. All the hard work in camp showed in the fight,” Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz told Little Giant Boxing, reflecting on his win over Eduardo Ramirez.

“Consider the idea, Tank. Come on, don’t run. If you want to be a solid champion, take on fighters who will give you a tough fight. Do not face fighters who are going to fall in the first rounds.

“I said it once, and I’ll say it again, I like to talk inside the ring, not outside of it. I expected Eduardo to run around the ring, but I never expected him to be scared and cautious.

“When we realized that, we went straight for him. I came to do my job. I was going to do what I did with Tank Davis. It was not surprising what we did with Tank Davis.

“I am happy that I was able to show my skills in front of all of Los Angeles and around the world. I don’t pay fans. It’s the fight the fans want. They want to see the rematch. They want to see us fight again.

“Fans are the best judges of who wins fights. Enormous! One of the most interesting fights of my career,” Pitbull Cruz said when asked how big the rematch with Tank Davis is.

“Rest and enjoy my family before December and then decide what’s next,” Cruz said when asked who’s next for him. “I would love to be here [in Los Angeles at the Crypto Arena] another 2-3 times to show love to all the fans here and around the world.

“Well, if it happens, great. If not, great,” Pitbull Cruz said of a December fight between Tank Davis and Ryan Garcia. “Now it’s between the two teams to see if they can pull it off.

“My prediction is that it’s a 50-50 fight, a great fight,” Cruz said of the Sept. 17 trilogy bout between Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin. “This is a fight that will go down in history.

“It’s personal like Canelo said. It’s a 50-50 fight because they say GGG is old, but just because he’s old doesn’t mean he won’t fight Canelo. Just because Canelo lost doesn’t mean he’s a lost cause. Canelo is going to come with a lot of motivation.

“I support Canelo. I am with him. He is going to win this fight and he is going to win by KO.

“Hopefully he can bounce back from that tough loss,” Pitbull Cruz said of Jose ‘El Rayo’ Valenzuela, who lost to Edwin De Los Santos on Sunday night.

“I saw him say that he was acting like he beat Tank Davis. That was not the case. The fans expressed that to me. My only message is for him to recover and get back on his feet from that hard loss.

“Speechless. I have no words for your love and support. I am grateful to God and to all the fans who support me. I have nothing to offer the fans except to give them the biggest fights for them to enjoy.

“I am going to give everything so that you are happy when you see my fights,” Cruz said.
