Inter Milan is serious about signing Juventus defensive target

Juventus face some serious competition from Inter Milan as they bid to bring Chris Smalling into their squad at the end of this season.

The defender is running out of his contract at AS Roma despite the fact that the Giallorossi want him to stay.

Juve have been circling the former Manchester United player, who is now one of the most experienced defenders in the Italian top flight.

Smalling loves life in Rome, but the defender has left the door open to leave too if José Mourinho’s team do not meet his demands.

This is good news for Juve. However, a report on Tuttomercatoweb reveals that Inter Milan are also interested in him.

The Nerazzurri will rebuild their squad in the summer, with Milan Skriniar already leaving for PSG and they see Smalling as a player who can improve their defence.

Juve FC says

Inter always wants to compete with us for new players and that’s normal. However, we are still the biggest of both clubs and we should convince Smalling to join us if we offer equal salaries.

But now we have a lot of defenders on our books, and Smalling might feel he won’t get the regular playing time he needs in Turin.
