‘I’ll fly to Dortmund’ – Gerrard sends Bellingham Liverpool transfer message

Steven Gerrard may have had two managerial moves since leaving Liverpool’s youth setup, but home is clearly still where the heart is for the legendary former midfielder.

Speaking to BT Sport ahead of the Reds’ meeting with Chelsea, in comments broadcast on Twitter by Echo’s Paul Gorst, he signaled his willingness to fight his former club’s case as it relates to the potential transfer of Jude Bellingham.

Given the 19-year-old’s well-known admiration for the former Aston Villa boss, it certainly couldn’t hurt the Merseysiders’ chances of encouraging a discussion between their main transfer target and the now manager.

The issues as always for us will of course revolve around money, assuming we can convince the player of the superiority of our project.

Bellingham will know for sure that minutes will NOT be in short supply at Anfield, which is a guarantee that neither Real Madrid nor Manchester City will be able to do with 100% certainty.

Our midfield department is in dire need of surgery over the course of the next two transfer windows and the Englishman has every reason to believe he will play a key role in rebuilding going forward.

Having Champions League football still available will certainly help our case, of course, and we can start to assert our claim in that regard with a big win over Chelsea this afternoon.
