If “The Money Right” Gervonta Davis Willing To Revisit Isaac Cruz Rematch

Gervonta Davis’s normally intimidating aura did nothing to unnerve Isaac Cruz. Though the powerhouse southpaw would go on to post a close unanimous decision win against the Mexican product during their December 2021 matchup, the 24-year-old Cruz has done his best to lure him back into the ring.

Moments before Cruz wandered the ropes at the Crypto.com Arena to take on Eduardo Ramirez this past weekend, Davis snuggled comfortably into his ringside seat. Seemingly empowered by his presence, Cruz violently ended his man’s night in the second round.

Without delay, Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) immediately turned his attention to Davis, urging him to rush things as soon as possible.

“We want the rematch with Gervonta Davis,” an enthused Cruz said after his quick stoppage victory.

Davis, apparently enthused, beamed as Cruz continued his bold calls. While the current WBA “Regular” lightweight belt holder has not made any decisions regarding his next opponent, he did reveal that he would be willing to give Cruz one more chance. If, however, and only if, he did deposit a considerable amount of money into his bank account.

“If the money is right,” Davis told LalosBoxing when asked if he would grant Cruz’s wish for a rematch.

Since recording the victory against Cruz, Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) made a successful return to the ring approximately six months later. A record crowd packed into Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on May 28 to watch Davis secure another victory, this time against Rolando Romero.

Most recently, Davis dropped an unmistakable hint as to when fans can expect to see him next.

“December,” Davis said on his verified Twitter account.

While Davis is still weighing the options for his next possible opponent, Ryan Garcia, his longtime rival, has continually raised his hand in an effort to get his attention.

Still, regardless of Garcia’s verbal jabs and attempts to get his paws on Davis, Cruz believes he should be next in line for the Baltimore native.
