“I think not” – Gallagher says Arsenal shouldn’t have had Jesus penalty

Liverpool supporters thought similarly after a loss to Arsenal, thinking the Gunners were given a soft decision that gave them a chance to win the game from the penalty spot and it seems Dermot Gallagher agreed with the fans.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Premier League referee reviewed the incident where Thiago Alcantara was judged to have fouled Gabriel Jesus and said: “It’s not in line with what we’ve seen this season, they’ve raised the threshold. [for a foul to be given].

“Surely he [Thiago] does not win the ball and makes contact [with Jesus] but is it enough to give a penalty? I do not think so”.

After stating that he believed that Jurgen Klopp’s team should have also received a penalty for Gabriel’s handball, it really does feel like we were robbed at the Emirates.
