“I don’t want to say the title is over” after Arsenal defeat

Liverpool finished the Premier League weekend in 10th place and 14 points behind leaders Arsenal, prompting John Barnes to be asked if our chances of winning the Premier League were over, after just eight games.

Our club legend replied: “Well, it’s a lot like saying: ‘Arsenal are the best, are they going to win the title?’ Yes, it will be very difficult.

“I don’t think we’re going to play well enough, but I think we can still finish in the top four, but I guess I don’t want to say the title is over.

“Can we see City and Arsenal losing a lot of points? As Jurgen said, we are not thinking about the title, we are thinking about improving to win football games and shoot up in the league”.

Few would have expected Jurgen Klopp’s side to have had such a poor start to the campaign and it seems we have very little chance of success in the league, even with 30 games to go.

Stranger things have happened and there is nothing wrong with the 58-year-old hoping for an unlikely change, but everyone’s main goal now is to start winning football matches.

We will end the season where we deserve to be and hopefully it will be in a much higher position than we currently are.
