Liverpool’s meeting with Manchester City has been heralded as a potentially season-defining clash for the former with the Reds 13 points behind defending champions.

The Merseysiders have a game to fall back on, of course, albeit one that would add significantly to their value if they got all three points.

It’s a result that would defy expectations, though it’s still not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Alisson Becker is once again the man between the sticks, while Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez (substitute for Ibrahima Konate) in the central half stand guard in front of the Brazilian international.

Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho form the heart of the midfield with Mo Salah and Harvey Elliott on the wings.

Bobby Firmino maintains his place in the starting eleven thanks to his excellent form since the start of the season (having recorded 12 goal contributions in as many games) and is supported by Diogo Jota.
