How to avoid ESPN+ spoilers for soccer games

How to avoid ESPN+ spoilers

One of the biggest frustrations in watching ESPN+ is trying to figure out how to avoid spoilers.

It’s a blessing and a curse to have so much soccer content on ESPN+. Flipping through the selection of accessories, ESPN shows the score. For games we don’t plan on watching, it’s a handy tool to take a look at scores from around the field.

However, if we accidentally see a marker for a game we want to watch, it takes away some of the suspense and intrigue.

Fortunately, ESPN+ resolved those issues.

In a welcome feature of ESPN+, ESPN+ users and subscribers can toggle the menu not to show the latest scores in the app. So you don’t have the thrill of seeing a match ruined by a premature score.

Please note that this action is applicable to ESPN+ on certain devices. Those are smart TVs like Roku, Apple TV, SamsungTV, Comcast X1 or X1 Flex, Android TV, and Fire TV. This feature also works on devices like Xbox and your smartphone.

In the image above, you will also notice the asterisk that allows users to start from the beginning of the program. While it’s possible to turn off live scores regardless of device, all Roku users need to do is press the asterisk or star on the Roku remote. This takes you directly to a menu. There, you can select to watch the game live or play it from the beginning

However, if you’re more focused on how to stop spoilers on ESPN+, that’s also pretty straightforward.

How to avoid ESPN+ spoilers

The process to turn live scores on or off is the same regardless of device.

Once inside the ESPN app, go to the gear icon, which is the platform settings. After that, head over to the video settings selection. Click on video settings and a new window opens. One of the selections there is the live scores toggle. Turn it off or on, depending on your preferences.

If you decide to leave it on, rate the air below the little windows for each game on the selection screen. If it’s off, all you see are the miniplayers and teams involved below. There is no punctuation indicated. If you have a Roku, you can easily go back to the beginning of a game if it’s currently happening by using the aforementioned asterisk on the remote.

Of course, ESPN+ also has on-demand soccer games available for subscribers, where spoilers can really come into play.
