How can Nike design remarkable kits for England but not USA?

England World Cup Kits

England announced and revealed their new kits for the upcoming World Cup.

The home jerseys consist of a white base with a blue gradient detail at the top of the shoulders. Mixed in with the color on the shoulder is a distorted Three Lions logo and lines that represent claw marks. Blue shorts and white socks complete the look of the home kit.

While the home jerseys are a bit flat, the away kits are very clean. In an ode to their early 1990s away kits, England opted for an all-red look. The bright red jersey and shorts make these kits stand out. A blue necklace with Thee Lions detail was also a good choice.

England World Cup kits inspired by the early 90s

Nike was apparently inspired by the bold aspect of the fact that the England national team boasts an exciting group of young players. The vibrant colors and particular shades of blue and red give Three Lions a more youthful vibe than it has in years past.

90’s touches are obviously very trendy right now too. Although the inspirations for the two kits were taken from various previous England looks, it appears that these particular jerseys are more influenced by the Euro 1992 kits. Even though the home jersey does not contain a collar. The Three Lions hope that their World Cup efforts will be better than their performance at Euro ’92. England finished bottom of their group that year.

Nike’s new World Cup jerseys haven’t exactly been received with open arms. USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah recently made some interesting comments about the new US uniforms. “The kits are… yes,” Musah said amusedly. “It’s the kits they made, you know?”

Nike, however, isn’t worried about the reaction. The company’s senior director of football appeal, Aaron Barnett, said fans will eventually accept the designs. “People always hate new jerseys at first,” Barnett said at an event last month. “So your team wins their first game, and it’s the best jersey they’ve ever had.”

While many have criticized Nike’s current designs, they at least managed the England away kit.
