How Bremer broke a Brazil taboo at the World Cup

Juventus defender Gleison Bremer made his Brazil debut this year and surprisingly made the World Cup squad for the South Americans.

The defender is considered one of his country’s best players in European football and made an instant impact on the team when he joined them.

He will now try to win the World Cup with Brazil as they remain one of the favorites for the competition and a new report reveals that the former Torino player has broken a taboo in the national team.

A Football Italia report states that he took the number 24 jersey which is associated with homosexuality in Brazil.

The nation sees the number as taboo and none of its players wore it in the last Copa América.

Bremer didn’t care, though, and hopes he won’t make any defensive mistakes in the contest that could be attributed to the number.

Juve FC says

Since Bremer has spent most of his professional career in Europe, the defender probably doesn’t believe in the taboo like some players on the team.

At the end of the day, a jersey number is nothing more than a jersey number and you just need to focus on performing well.

Hopefully, Bremer will do well in the competition and, more importantly, return injury-free.
