‘He’s got everything’ – James Milner has ‘no doubt’ that 23-year-old Liverpool star will be a huge hit at Anfield

James Milner has claimed Darwin Nunez has the ability to be a superstar at Anfield and believes people ‘underestimate’ how difficult it is to get going in the Premier League.

The Uruguayan striker moved to the Reds from Benfica in the summer and with Jurgen Klopp spending an initial £64m on the 23-year-old many were quick to question his ability.

Our number 7 is confident that the former Almería player has what it takes to be a great success on Merseyside.

“He has everything to score a lot of goals in Liverpool,” Milner told the Amazon Prime YouTube channel (via Rousing The Kop).

“It’s a new country, he still can’t speak much English, but he jokes very well and he’s learning the language, he’s a great guy.

“People underestimate how difficult it is to move the whole family, it’s a different food, a different language, a different climate. The Premier League is completely different, it’s a big step and it takes time.

“He has his attributes, finishing with both feet, in the air, he works hard, he’ll be on top, there’s no doubt about that.”

Núñez’s Uruguay failed to make it out of the group stage at the World Cup in Qatar and while that was a huge blow to our No. 27, we hope it only makes him hungrier to taste the Reds’ success this term.

Despite all the criticism he’s received from opposition supporters, he’s actually netted nine times and recorded two assists in 18 appearances for the FA Cup winners this term (in all competitions), which is a decent performance.

He scored twice in our last match before the tournament break in the Middle East and the hope is that he can continue to find the back of the net as regularly when we resume our campaign on Thursday.

It must be remembered that the top scorer in the Portuguese League last season still has a lot of time on his side and we are confident that under the watchful eye of our German strategist he will be able to reach his full potential.
