Henderson on absence of his Liverpool teammate from the World Cup

Jordan Henderson is one of seven Liverpool players in the World Cup, but was asked to share his thoughts on the absence of one of his teammates from the competition in Qatar.

A journalist told our captain that it was a pity that Luis Díaz was not in the World Cup, to which he replied: “Yes, of course, in the World Cup you want the best players in the world and Luis Díaz is definitely one. from them. He has lit up the Premier League ever since he came along and it was a disappointing moment when he got injured for us, but yes, of course you want the best players here.”

In fairness to the Sunderland-born midfielder, he seemed a bit taken aback by the question because it came on the heels of England’s draw with the US, but he does show love for our number 23.

It’s a shame so many of our best players didn’t qualify, weren’t selected or sustained injuries for the tournament, but it should be a boost for us once domestic football returns.
