Harry Maguire throws subtle dig at Manchester United after England defeat against Italy – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has subtly and gently criticized his club and manager Erik ten Hag for leaving him out of the starting eleven.

The underdog United defender spoke to Talksport after England’s 1-0 loss to Italy in the Uefa Nations League saw the Three Lions relegated to the competition’s B league.

During the international break, Maguire came into the spotlight after a report from ESPN’s Mark Ogden appeared to blame others around him for his poor form at the club, including goalkeeper David de Gea.

The former Leicester City player has apparently criticized United for their reduced role in recent weeks, citing their form at the European Championship which saw him named in the team of the tournament.

Maguire said: “I entered the European Championship after an eight-week injury, didn’t play a match and made the tournament squad.”

The 29-year-old continued his tirade which also entered Ten Hag. About the manager, he commented, “Obviously, the manager [Ten Hag] He decided to sit me out for one game, and the team has been winning ever since.”

Maguire did not address his disastrous form for United, which he dismissed by saying he knew nothing of what was said or written about it.

“I’m coming off three positive games with England in the summer and a good pre-season, I felt really good.”

In addition to this, the player warned fans about false stories about him in the press, assessing that in his capacity as captain of England’s biggest football club, he was destined to make the news.

Maguire leaned in to get back into the Red Devils starting eleven and said he would jump at the chance if it came his way.

The United captain played for England yesterday, where he teamed up with Tottenham’s Eric Dier and Manchester City’s Kyle Walker in central defence.

While Maguire’s comments won’t go down well with sections of the fanbase, it’s in everyone’s best interest that he quickly get back to his best before a busy October period. Numerous games are coming up and will no doubt be necessary in some cases.
