Harry Maguire set to miss Manchester derby due to injury – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire will be sidelined for the next two weeks due to injury.

The 29-year-old suffered a thigh strain in the UEFA Nations League clash against Germany and was seen limping after the match.

The Sun is now reporting that the United captain is expected to be unavailable for selection for a short period.

Maguire’s poor form has drawn criticism from a large part of the fan base.

His ills continued against Germany after being guilty of two of the conceded goals.

Countryman Luke Shaw came to Maguire’s defense. In a recent interview, he stated:

“Harry is an incredible player, an incredible character. He’s taken a lot of stick, probably more than I’ve seen before in football.”

“He never hides; he is always there. You can have people who can hide and don’t want to be the center of attention.”

“He keeps putting himself in the spotlight; it shows the strength and character he has.”

Until now, Erik ten Hag has preferred a central defense pairing of Lisandro Martínez and Raphael Varane.

The change of personnel at the back has really benefited the side.

United look well organized at the back and are hard to break.

However, Varane’s injury record is not the best, and United would not want to weaken the depth of their squad ahead of a busy October.

Ten Hag hopes that Maguire will be back in shape as soon as possible.
