Harry Kane is Manchester United’s “main desire” to replace Cristiano Ronaldo – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have identified Harry Kane as their number one choice to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, who say the Tottenham Hotspur striker is the “top wish” around Old Trafford.

Having opted out of Ronaldo’s contract earlier in the week, the Red Devils are likely looking for a standout center forward, even if they need to wait until the summer to close that deal.

That could suit the search for Kane, who will only have 12 months left on his contract in June.

Tottenham managed to block a move to Manchester City in 2021, but the England captain refused to agree to a new deal.

With Kane able to move on a free transfer in 2024, Spurs may well feel the need to cash in as the end of his contract nears.

United have long been admirers of the striker and if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League, he may finally be available for a move.

At 29, Kane would be one of the most experienced options the Red Devils could bet on.

That could actually be a positive for Erik ten Hag, who will need a player who can handle the pressure of leading his team’s line.

If his career follows a trajectory similar to that of Robert Lewandowski, still going strong at 34, Kane could be a shrewd acquisition.

Many fans would perhaps prefer a younger striker, given United’s recent way of bringing in older strikers only to have them need a replacement within 18 months.

Fichajes mentions Víctor Osimhen and Lautaro Martínez as players considered by the club to be a perfect fit in that sense.

But there’s no denying that Kane would be the ideal target with only quality in the equation.
