Gilberto Ramirez: Bivol is a Really Good Challenge – I Will Get That Belt!

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez is preparing for the most important fight of his professional career.

The former WBO super middleweight champion will attempt to become a two-division champion on November 5 in Abu Dhabi.

In what is a must fight, Ramirez will challenge WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.

Ramirez, undefeated in 44 fights, won all five of his fights at 175 pounds by knockout.

Bivol, also unbeaten, is coming off one of the biggest upsets of 2022.

In May, he retained his world title by beating Mexican superstar Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez in twelve rounds in Las Vegas.

Ramírez also saw action in May, when he knocked out Dominic Boesel in a WBA final eliminator.

The Mexican boxer has been chasing a world title fight at 175 for some time, and now the time is drawing near.

While Bivol is the favorite to win, there are many who see Ramirez as a more dangerous opponent for him than Canelo, who moved up from 168 and started his career at welterweight.

Ramírez sees Bivol as a great challenge, but not his biggest challenge.

“I think it’s not the biggest [challenge of my career]. I have been fighting for a long time with the best fighters, but at the end of the day it is a good challenge. It’s what I want. I want the belt. It’s great for me and it’s great for boxing to have this great fight and for people to look forward to it,” Ramirez told The National.

“Bivol is a really good challenge. And I like it because I’m a man of challenge. I really want to get the title, become a two-time world champion. And I will get it. That is sure.

“[A win over Bivol] it means everything to me, because it shows that I can do it myself. That’s the challenge I’ve been looking for all my life, that I can do everything I think about, everything I dream of, and make it come true.”
