Georgia’s Darnell Washington and Kelee Ringo Declare For The NFL Draft

Darnell Washington and his teammate Kelee Ringo have declared for the NFL Draft

The tight end and cornerback announced Thursday that they are declaring for the 2023 draft.

Washington came to Georgia as a five-star prospect in the drafting class of 2020. He was mostly a minor contributor during his first two seasons, but turned the corner in 2022 as part of a one-two punch alongside tight end Brock Bowers. .

He finished the year with 28 catches for 454 yards and two touchdowns. One of them came in the SEC Championship Game win over LSU. While his numbers don’t jump off the page, he was part of a charged offense that often spread the ball around. It’s not hard to imagine the best-stats 6’7″ matchup nightmare in the NFL.

Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department listed Washington as the 32nd-best player overall and the second-best tight end on their latest big board.

Only Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer was ahead of the Georgia star in the ranking. However, both could finish in the top 20 on draft day. In fact, Mayer ranks 14th overall against the New England Patriots and Washington ranks 15th against the Green Bay Packers in the latest B/R mock draft.

His blocking ability in the running game and his agility down the field as a pass catcher, Washington could be an impact rookie.

Cornerback Kelee Ringo is a more positive pick at the position. Ringo is mostly famous for his pick six game in the National Championship last season. He’s still a projected first-round pick even though he recently dropped in some mock drafts. This year’s corner class is really good and Ringo is part of the group. He may not be the most prepared prospect for the NFL, but he seems to have more potential. Ringo is still projected to be a first round pick.
