Gareth Bale gains confidence, fitness after time with LAFC

Gareth Bale declared that he will be in “great shape” for the upcoming World Cup, a credit to his time with LAFC.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid star had a difficult last few seasons in Spain. In fact, she only managed five LaLiga games in total in her last campaign with Real. Bale joined Los Angeles FC earlier this summer in a bid to play more regularly and improve his fitness.

So far, the move is going according to plan. The winger, now 33, claimed the vibes are in the city of angels. “It feels good, the fans have been very supportive there,” Bale said on Wednesday. “They have also been very patient, which is good. I enjoy playing there, the atmosphere is amazing, everyone is rooting for the team.”

“I can’t ask for more than that. They made me feel at home right away. So there’s a good vibe from MLS, and I hope that also gives me more confidence to go to Wales.”

Bale also made reference to his physical form in relation to the World Cup. “I am getting stronger and fitter. We now have a significant stretch of games in MLS, but after that I can turn my attention to the World Cup and hopefully be in the best shape possible.”

Although he has only started two games for LA since his arrival in July, his minute management appears to be very deliberate. “We have a plan in Los Angeles with what we are doing,” Bale added. “We’re not doing too much right away.”

“All footballers want to play as much as they can, but we are being smart and preparing for the last important part of the season. I hope that puts me in good shape for the World Cup. I think I will be much fitter. I haven’t played 90 minutes yet, which is what I’m building”.

Bale is currently with the Wales national team as he prepares for a Nations League match with Belgium on Thursday.
