Gakpo fires game-winning chance wide in dull Selhurst Park meeting

It was a match with few real chances for either side, but when the ball landed at the feet of Cody Gakpo with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game, it looked as if Liverpool were poised to steal the win.

After a skilful pass from Mo Salah, the Dutchman went to goal but very soon found himself with Vicente Guaita who forced our striker to make a quick decision.

It seemed our number 18 was caught between trying to push the keeper to score or pass him, ultimately going wide of target.

In a game with few chances, it’s important to take what comes your way, but unfortunately the former PSV player didn’t know how to capitalize.
