Gabby Agbonlahor urges 25-year-old Leeds star to join Everton

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Jack Harrison is better than Leeds United, but not at the same level as Newcastle United in their quest for European football.

Harrison started the current season strongly but, like Leeds, faded after a good start.

There was a lot of interest in the player last summer, but having lost Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, Leeds were able to hang on to him. But with the January transfer window approaching and Leeds not in the best position in the league, there will be interest in Harrison once again.

And Agbonlahor believes that Leeds will not be able to pay the player what they want and while Newcastle will be able to afford it financially, but the Magpies may be above their level. He believes that Everton would be a suitable club for him as they could give him an improved contract and improve his level.

He told Football London:

“First of all, I don’t think he wants to sign a new contract because I don’t think Leeds will pay him what he wants.

“But then I look at Newcastle and can they be looking for better players than him? “I like him, but with where Newcastle want to go, I don’t think they should keep looking at Harrison.

“They should look for better players in Europe, to be honest. They’re so close to the top four and staying there, I don’t think Harrison is the answer.

Jack Harrison is linked to a move away from Leeds in January.

“I think it’s better than Leeds, but I feel like Newcastle are on to bigger things. Is Everton the right type of move for Harrison? That kind of level where you get an extra £20,000 a week or £30,000 a week.

“I just don’t think Newcastle is the right place for him.”

Leeds are 15th in the league table at the moment, just two points above the relegation zone. They will face Manchester City in their return to the Premier League on December 28.
