Former ref praises semi-automated offside in Juventus victory

Juventus just picked up a rocky 1-0 win against Fiorentina as the Bianconeri’s game to end the season well.

It’s been a tough term for the men in black and white, but La Viola also needed a win and they know that a win against a top club like Juve will boost their morale.

Adrien Rabiot’s goal ultimately made the difference, but the match might have gone a different score were it not for the intervention of semi-automatic offside technology.

First, he ruled out a Dusan Vlahovic goal before helping the referee disallow a Gaetano Castrovilli goal late in the game, when Fiorentina thought they had won the tie.

Former referee Luca Marelli has now praised the technology. He wrote via Tuttomercatoweb:

“The millimeters of the semi-automatic offside take away on one side but also on the other, it goes for everyone: Vlahovic’s head, Ranieri’s heel.”

Juve FC says

We had some luck in the win against Fiorentina, which showed that it is also an important factor in winning games, but overall our guys played well.

The win helps us get closer to a European place and we need our men to keep winning in the next games.
