Fitness Update on Chelsea Players Edouard Mendy & Kante

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has confirmed that neither N’Golo Kante nor Edouard Mendy will be available for their next game.

Chelsea return to action after the international break in September by taking on Crystal Palace in an away game in the Premier League. The match will also be Potter’s first league game in charge of Chelsea.

Chelsea appointed Potter as their manager after Thomas Tuchel was sacked following his mixed start to the 22/23 season. The Blues met RB Salzburg in the Champions League in their first game since Potter took over. That match ended in a draw.

The west London side will be looking to register their first since Potter became their manager when they take on Crystal Palace in the English top flight.

Before their match against Crystal Palace, Potter sat in for the pre-match press conference. Potter issued updates on the fitness of Edouard Mendy and N’Golo Kante. He confirmed that both players will not be available for selection.

“No, they’re not. They’re absolutely fine in terms of going through their rehab stages. NG has just been out on the pitch with the team, but not fully training,” Potter said.

He added: “Eddie is a bit further along but he hasn’t had enough to really be involved in the weekend. Maybe next week for him.”

Kante is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during Chelsea’s second game of the 22/23 Premier League season. Meanwhile, Mendy was injured during Chelsea’s Premier League game against West Ham in early September.

Meanwhile, Chelsea currently sit seventh in the Premier League points table with 10 points from their first six games.

The Blues began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Everton. However, the Stamford Bridge side dropped points in the next game as Spurs held them to a 2–2 draw. That was followed by a 3-0 loss at the hands of Leeds United.
