Ferdinand says what ‘every Liverpool fan must thinking’ with transfers

There have been plenty of disdainful voices over the last month and the transfer decisions of the summer, but Rio Ferdinand has highlighted an outgoing deal who can’t figure out why Liverpool did it.

Speaking on his ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE’ YouTube channel, the former Manchester United defender said: “Why didn’t they just pay [Sadio Mane] the money to stay?

“I think they let the wrong one go. They should have let Firmino go. I just don’t understand how you let someone who is actually world class at the time, who ideally would have liked to stay if you had given him the contract he was looking for, or something similar to what Salah got. [to leave the club].

“I just can’t understand it. Every Liverpool fan must be sitting there thinking: ‘Wow, how did we, a player of that caliber, let this get out of hand?’

It’s always easier to say after the event, but there’s no doubt that Sadio Mane would always be a huge loss to whichever team left, on top of this we don’t know what demands our former No. 10 made, if any. .

It seems the player wanted to leave the club and, out of respect for what he had achieved during his career at Anfield, we allowed him to leave a year before his contract expired and he would have left for free anyway.
