Falk reveals Liverpool’s summer transfer budget without CL football

Liverpool supporters would not have expected to go into this season worried about whether we would qualify for the Champions League, but that is now a question, as is the effect this could have on a potential transfer budget for the summer.

Writing for CaughtOffside, Christian Falk has provided an update on our finances: “It is difficult to pinpoint Liverpool’s summer budget at the moment. They hope to finish in the Champions League places because it has generally been achieved lately.

“Even if they don’t qualify, they still have to spend some money. I think there is room around this £200-250m figure. With a £200m war chest, no Champions League football, I think that’s still enough.

“Klopp has to convince the owners to finance a move to Bellingham and if they do, there won’t be as much money left over afterwards.”

If these figures are to be believed, then we shouldn’t have much to fear in terms of performances this season affecting our chances of hitting our biggest targets for the upcoming transfer windows.

However, it goes without saying that any top quality player will want to perform at the highest level and that will also be included on the European stage, so we need to make sure we improve on our recent results.

For Jurgen Klopp to have the apparent peace of mind that the owners will have his back regardless of his performances on the pitch this season, then he should be relaxed enough to be able to improve team morale and results.

Let’s hope it’s all that simple and we finish the campaign in a strong position both financially and in terms of league and European standings, which means we can lure Jude Bellingham and possibly more players through the Anfield front door. .
