Last summer, Adrien Rabiot was on the verge of leaving Juventus for Manchester United in direct talks with the player and his mother Veronique.
However, the offer from the Red Devils did not convince the Frenchman, who ended up staying at Turin for what many considered his last season.
However, the midfielder’s better performances have changed the situation, as the Bianconeri now hope to tie the player up with a new contract.
While some recent reports have suggested Rabiot could switch to the Premier League in January, Fabrizio Romano refutes these claims.
The transfer expert believes that Juventus will not allow the 27-year-old to leave midway through the campaign.
He hopes he will remain in Turin at least until the end of the season and, in the meantime, discuss a contract renewal.
“There have been new transfer rumors about Adrien Rabiot, but I am not absolutely sure that he will leave Juventus in January,” the famous Italian journalist said in his daily column for CaughtOffside.
“He is doing very well and he is a key player for Allegri this season, so I see him staying at least until the end of the season; then his contract will be discussed when the current one expires in June 2023.
“Manchester United had talks about signing Rabiot in the summer, but there were no other clubs in the running. In the end, his wage demands caused United to withdraw from the move.”
