Fabrizio Romano provides update on Barcelona star’s future amid Arsenal transfer links

Fabrizio Romano has downplayed Ferran Torres as a possible candidate for the starting gate at Barcelona amid transfer rumors linking him with Arsenal.

The Spain international hasn’t had the easiest time since moving to Barca from Manchester City but, writing in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside, Romano suggested he would probably still have time to prove himself with Xavi.

Nacional recently linked Arsenal with Torres, and it might make sense that the Gunners would continue to look for new signings up front after recently losing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette within a few months.

Aubameyang left in January, while Lacazette then left the Emirates Stadium in the summer, although Arsenal moved to sign Gabriel Jesus to strengthen their attack.

Torres could be another option worth considering going forward, but Romano doesn’t seem to think anything concrete is happening in that department right now.

“I am not aware of any negotiations between Barcelona and any other club for Ferran Torres,” Romano said.

“Xavi trusts him and that’s why I don’t see any change in plans, at least for January. He is working hard and I think it is normal at Barça to need some time to adapt with a lot of competition too”.

Barcelona fans will be hoping that Torres can reach his full potential, while Arsenal fans will perhaps continue to keep an eye on this saga to see if any further speculation arises anytime soon.
