Fabrizio Romano has updated the situation of Sergio Busquets at Barcelona in the latest edition of the Daily Briefing, his exclusive column CaughtOffside.
The experienced Spain international, who is currently on duty for the national team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has interest from MLS clubs as his contract at Camp Nou nears the end of his contract.
Busquets has had a great career at Barcelona, coming through their academy before shining in the first team and winning a host of major titles, including three Champions League titles and eight La Liga titles.
Internationally, the 34-year-old also won the World Cup with Spain and Euro 2012.

According to Romano, it appears that Barcelona manager Xavi is still interested in keeping the experienced midfielder for a bit longer, although a final decision has yet to be made.
“Xavi is very happy with Sergio Busquets. He is convinced that he can do very well for the club for another season; but he also depends on Busquets, ”explained Romano.
“A decision will be made in 2023 and not now. There is a possibility that it will continue for another year, as Xavi will push for that, but Busquets also has proposals from MLS.”
