Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on rumors linking Manchester United defender Harry Maguire to Aston Villa.
Maguire is struggling to play regular minutes for Manchester United this season. The arrival of Lisandro Martínez in the summer has made things difficult for Maguire, who even seems to be behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order, despite the fact that he is a left back.
A rumor recently surfaced that Maguire was close to joining Aston Villa, but Romano has now denied these rumors, stating that Maguire will stay at Manchester United for now, as seen in the tweet below.
Reports of Harry Maguire’s ‘done’ deal with Aston Villa are now denied by all parties involved. There are no ongoing negotiations or conversations. ?? #MUFC

No doubt Maguire will be frustrated by the lack of playing time at Manchester United, but Erik ten Hag will not want to lose a player from the team in January, especially a player with Maguire’s leadership skills.
The England international has regularly captained his club since moving from Leicester City, so losing a player with his influence would not be a smart move.
However, there will come a point where Maguire will get tired of heating up the bench, so it would not be a surprise if he left in the future.
