Fabrizio Romano has suggested Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek to make England’s World Cup squad.
With the World Cup just around the corner, Gareth Southgate will be keeping a close eye on some of the players eligible to play for England with a view to calling them up to his squad ready for November.
With the World Cup taking place in the middle of the season, Southgate’s player pool is shrinking each day due to injuries sustained playing at club level.
This could mean we see one or two players who normally wouldn’t be on the draft squad in November.

Romano has now given a hint to a Chelsea player who he thinks deserves a chance to play in the World Cup for England.
“I think Ruben Loftus-Cheek deserves better consideration. He can play multiple positions and is doing well with Graham Potter. The next two or three weeks are going to be crucial, but I think Loftus-Cheek is underrated,” Romano said, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside via his Substack column.
Loftus-Cheek’s versatility could make him a really useful option for Southgate in the World Cup. With Reece James out injured and doubts over Kyle Walker’s fitness, Loftus-Cheek’s ability to play both full-back and central midfield could mean he has a good chance of convincing Southgate to give him the chance.
