Exclusive: 21-year-old defender attracting interest from three or four clubs – Liverpool yet to open discussions

Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio is attracting interest from three or four clubs, but Liverpool have yet to open discussions.

According to the Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, Liverpool recently sent scouts to observe Sporting Lisbon defender Inacio.

Despite being just 21 years old, Inácio has already made 19 league appearances for Sporting Lisbon so far this season and has made six Champions League appearances.

Being a starting defender at such a young age says a lot about Inacio and he is now attracting interest from many clubs in Europe.

“Right now, there are many scouts looking at Goncalo Inacio. He is a fantastic centre-back. I am not aware of any conversation between Sporting Lisbon and Liverpool for Inacio at the moment. However, there are three or four clubs interested in signing Inacio before the summer transfer window,” said Fabrizio Romano, speaking to CaughtOffside via his Substack column.

Naturally, if you play regularly in the Champions League at the age of 21, the teams will go crazy.

It could be a competitive race to secure his signing in the summer transfer window. Inácio is already impressive at the age of 21, so it’s scary to think where he might be when he develops and continues to gain valuable experience.
