Ex-Red on the ‘huge difference’ made by one Liverpool midfielder v. Ajax

Liverpool were delighted to welcome Thiago Alcantara back against Ajax and his performance was highlighted by a former Red after the match.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live Breakfast, Stephane Henchoz said: “There were some players back and it made a big difference. Thiago is so important, we saw him yesterday.

“Without him, it’s hard for Liverpool to produce the football they like.”

It’s no secret that our number 6 is vitally important to the way we play and his return from injury has brought two very impressive performances for the Reds.

Although his cameo against Napoli was not enough to prevent defeat and the embarrassment of the team’s performance, the midfielder was also in top form against the Dutch champions.

Highlights of her performance have been making the rounds on social media and it seems like everything she does seems so easy and graceful, although she’s certainly not afraid to do the dirty side too.

As our former defender said, it will be very important to keep as many players fit as possible and this forced break could well benefit the team.

Since our next game won’t be until October 1, Jurgen Klopp will pray that we don’t see any players get injured during the international break.

Hopefully this is the start of a long run of top quality fitness and performances from our Spanish midfield maestro.
