Robbie Fowler has explained that Liverpool lack momentum this season, but he hopes the Reds will soon be firing on all cylinders.
The FA Cup champions have experienced a far from convincing start to the campaign and have only won five of their first 13 Premier League games.
Injuries to key players like Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have not helped Jurgen Klopp’s side and some have suggested that the Merseysiders are tired after playing every possible match last term in their attempts to complete a glorious quadruple .
“I think that plays a factor. They were so close but so far away from winning it,” Fowler explained to Off The Ball (via HITC). “Last year it was a bigger squad and they were based on momentum and that’s what they’ve been missing this year. He has not had the 11 that Jurgen wanted to play, it has been a very slow start and Liverpool is at its best when it is in full swing, but it does not have that at the moment, but it will get it. back.”

Fowler is right to say that we’ve struggled to gain momentum this season and it almost feels like we’ve taken one step forward and two steps back on several occasions.
Most Reds fans thought the 1-0 loss to Manchester City last month was the much-needed kick-off to our season, but then we succumbed to back-to-back defeats against Nottingham Forest and Leeds United shortly after.
When Premier League action returns after the World Cup, the hope is that Klopp will have a fully fit squad to choose from and we can compete on all four fronts just as we did last season.
Even though we haven’t been at our best this season, qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League is assured.
Our defeat of Derby County last night also means we are through to the next round of the League Cup and there is plenty to look forward to in the new year.
