Patrice Evra criticized Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag for his comments on why Cristiano Ronaldo did not play against Manchester City.
Manchester United made a short trip to the Etihad Stadium to take on local rivals Manchester City in their recent Premier League game.
Against Manchester City, Ten Hag chose a starting eleven that did not include Ronaldo. The Dutch coach also opted not to take Ronaldo off the bench as a substitute.
Speaking after the match, Ten Hag explained his decision not to play the Portuguese superstar against Man City. Ten Hag said that he did not bring Ronaldo out of respect for the Portuguese. Man Utd had fallen to a tough 6-3 loss to Man City in that game.

Evra said he didn’t like Ten Hag’s comments about not playing Ronaldo against Man City. She questioned why the Man Utd manager is not starting the 37-year-old out of respect for the player.
“I didn’t like Ten Hag’s comments after the City game when he was asked why he wasn’t playing with Ronaldo. He said it was out of respect for his career. First of all, as a manager, you should never justify yourself,” Evra told Betfair.
“Now everyone can debate his decision. Regarding Ronaldo’s career, why don’t you play him and why isn’t he a starter? Has no sense.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has had a difficult start to the 22/23 season. The Portuguese striker has so far made eight appearances for Manchester United this season. But only three of them have been as a starter. The rest were appearances from the bench.
Ronaldo has also had trouble delivering goods this season. He has scored just one goal in the eight games he has played so far in the 22/23 campaign. That goal came in Man Utd’s 2-0 victory over FC Sheriff in the Europa League when he converted a penalty.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo was linked with a move away from Man Utd in the summer transfer window. Reports said that the Portuguese had asked Man Utd to allow him to leave if they received a suitable offer.
But there was little interest in the Portuguese international and he ended up staying with the Old Trafford team.
Meanwhile, reports emerging this week have suggested that Man Utd will allow Ronaldo to leave the club in the January transfer window.
