EU better believe it – Returning Kevin Cronin predicts European reign

By Kevin Croine [4(2)-0] he is confident he will end a nightmare period and start a dream run to European title success in Manchester on Saturday night.

The Kerry fighter, who is right up there with Anthony Cacace when it comes to hapless Irish fighters, has had more fights canceled than fights in the last year and a bit.

However, after a series of false dawns, the super middleweight is set to shine for an extended period and predicts he will start a run to European title success with a win against the experienced Ryan Hibbert. [2(1)-23(5)] this weekend.

The Tralee native is fighting for the first time in over 12 months on a Gary Booth and Manchester 31 Promotions card and believes people should be as excited at the prospect of him staying active and busy as he is.

“I’m looking forward to getting back there,” he tells Irish-boxing.com.

“It’s been a frustrating year with fights dropping and an injury, but I’m back and ready to push my career forward.”

The well-supported 26-year-old is confident he can push through to the point of winning a title that only 15 other Irish men have clasped around their waist, in two years.

The super middleweight prospect not only harbors European title dreams, ‘The Kingdom Warrior’ is convinced a continental reign is in his future.

“I firmly believe that I will be fighting for a European title in 18 months to two years.”

It’s a bold statement from a rookie pro, but Cronin thinks he’ll have a chance to show why he’s so confident before the year is out.

“People will see why I say that before the year is out,” he adds amid rumors of a fight with Robbie Burke in November.

“The thing is, I don’t think people realize how good I am in the ring when it comes down to it, so I think it’s time to go through the gears.”

The Munster man also revealed that he feels no pressure or nerves as his gap year ends. In fact, he suggests that he has used the time off to good effect and, as a result, comes back better than ever.

“No crazy nerves to be honest,” he continues.

“We’ve put in a lot of work during the timeout and I’m more confident than ever in my skill set.”
