Errol Spence Jr And Terence Crawford Agree To Terms For Nov.19th Fight In Las Vegas

By Chris Williams: Unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr and WBO belt holder Terence Crawford have reportedly agreed terms for a mega fight on November 19 in Las Vegas.

Crawford agreed to terms from Spence adviser Al Haymon and will get the smaller division instead of the 50-50 he wanted.

There is a bilateral rematch clause, which means we are going to see a second fight between the two champions. A rematch may seem futile if there’s an early knockout, as the boxing public won’t be eager to see a second fight if it’s a total elimination anyway.

ESPN is reporting on the news of the deal between Spence and Crawford. That said, neither fighter has signed the deal as it is currently being reviewed by their lawyers.

This is the fight the boxing world has been eager to see and it’s finally here.

The 34-year-old Crawford is likely to be the punters’ favourite, despite having faced mostly fringe opposition since rising to 147 in 2018.

Boxing fans will get a chance to see Crawford take on his first elite-level opponent at 147 and basically his entire career. Until now, the only real name on Crawford’s resume was goalie Shawn Porter, whom he stopped in the 10th round last October.

“Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford have agreed to all material terms for a fight for the undisputed welterweight championship, an event scheduled for November 19 in Las Vegas,” ESPN said.

With the fight taking place in November, there isn’t much time for Spence and Crawford to prepare.

For their sake, you can only hope they’ve already been training for the fight because it’s going to be a rushed camp otherwise. Chris Williams can already hear the excuses.

Spence and Crawford will eventually move up to 154 after their two fights are over.

“The agreement has not been signed as the parties’ lawyers clean up the legal language in the agreement, according to the sources. Crawford agreed to all financial terms proposed by PBC creator Al Haymon, including the short tranche of a revenue split,” ESPN said.

“The package includes a bilateral rematch clause that the loser will have the right to exercise, per source. If the rematch clause is triggered, the winner will get the majority of the revenue from the fight back.”
