Manchester City forward Erling Haaland became the fastest player to score 20 Premier League goals after netting a brace in their 3-1 win over Leeds United in the English top flight.
Manchester City faced Leeds United in an away game in their first Premier League match after the winter break, with the defending champions securing all three points from the match.
Rodri put Manchester City ahead on the stroke of half-time, on 45+1, before Erling Haaland doubled their lead on 51 minutes, scoring his 19th Premier League goal.
The Norway international then scored his second goal of the game in the 64th minute to set up a three-goal cushion for Manchester City. That was also his 20th Premier League goal. Pascal Struijk pulled one back for Leeds United in the 73rd minute, but it wasn’t enough for them to earn points in the match.

The 22-year-old, who joined Manchester City in the summer of 2022, has needed just 14 appearances to reach 20 goals in the English top flight.
Previously, the record for the fastest player to score 20 in the Premier League was held by Kevin Philips, who reached the feat in just 21 games for Sunderland.
Speaking after Man City’s win over Leeds United, Pep Guardiola praised Erling Haaland but stressed that the Norwegian could have scored more goals in the match.
“We are delighted with how humble he is,” Pep Guardiola told Amazon Prime after Man City’s win over Leeds United. “He scored a lot of goals, but he could have scored more. He helps us a lot.
“He is an exceptional guy with his work ethic and professionalism. He is a huge threat to our opponents to have him there.”
Meanwhile, the result sees Manchester City move back to second in the Premier League points table. The defending champions have 35 points from 15 games in the English top flight this season. They are five points behind Arsenal, who have 40 points from 15 games.
Newcastle United, who briefly held second place before Man City regained it with their win over Leeds United, sit third with 33 points from 16 games.
