Erik ten Hag full of praise for Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s attacking “impact” – Man United News And Transfer News

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been praised by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

Speaking to club media ahead of today’s clash with Leicester City, the manager was asked if he is pleased with the improvements to the attacking aspects of Wan-Bissaka’s game.

“Yes, of course,” replied the boss.

“He is improving his game and I am happy with his return.

“He had a tough first part of the season but he fought back and that’s to his credit if you can do it.”

Ten Hag said that what he had seen in the full back was a determination to recover.

“If you fight, you defend yourself: that’s what life is all about, and especially elite football.

“You always have to be in front, you always have to be ready. Sometimes you have setbacks and you have to deal with it and fight: that’s what he did.

“Defending, I think he was always reliable, but offensively as well now he has an impact.”

The fact that the England player was selected ahead of Diogo Dalot for the Europa League first leg against Barcelona on Thursday is a testament to the manager’s renewed faith in the player.

On previous occasions, when Dalot had been substituted, Ten Hag had even brought in left-back Tyrell Malacia to replace him, instead of relying on Wan-Bissaka.

It will be interesting to see which of the two right-backs the coach chooses today.

As this is a home game against a mid-table team, Dalot’s increased attacking ability could see him get the nod.

But if Wan-Bissaka is named in today’s squad, it’s probably fair to say that he has now surpassed the Portuguese in the Ten Hag pecking order.
