Manchester United then faced Brentford in their second Premier League game of the season and suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the Bees. Brentford inflicted a 4-0 defeat on Manchester United in that match.

Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic was the Red Devils’ 20th win since Erik ten Hag became their first manager. That means Erik ten Hag achieved 20 wins as Manchester United manager in just 27 games for the Old Trafford side.
That makes Erik ten Hag the fastest Manchester United manager to reach 20 wins for the club. The record was previously held by José Mourinho, who achieved 20 wins as Manchester United manager in 31 games.
Meanwhile, Manchester United currently sit fourth in the Premier League points table. The Red Devils have collected 35 points from 17 games in the English top flight so far this 22/23 season.
Manchester United are nine points behind table leaders Arsenal. They are behind Manchester City, who sit second, by four points. Third-placed Manchester United and Newcastle United are level on points but the latter have a better goal difference. But Newcastle United have played one more game than Man Utd.
Meanwhile, Manchester United also qualified for the EFL Cup semi-finals and the FA Cup fourth round. They have also reserved their place in the Europa League round of 16 play-off, where they will face FC Barcelona.
