While we all want Wataru Endo to return to Liverpool and help our attack in four competitions, it’s great to see him playing well for Japan in their first Asian Cup match.
On his X account, his nation’s captain wrote: ‘It was a difficult match but I’m happy to win the first match of the tournament! Keep it up!!’
The 4-2 victory over Vietnam will serve the Samurai Blue well ahead of matches against Indonesia and Iraq in the same group.

The nation will believe that the ultimate prize, lifting the silver medal at the end of the competition, is a real possibility and our number 3 will expect him to be the one to receive the crowning moment.
Given his performance which saw his record of 100% dribbling success and 89% accurate passing (via sofascore.com), the midfielder is in the mood to continue his excellent form at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp has already joked that he hopes both the former Stuttgart player and Mo Salah are knocked out early so they can return to Merseyside soon, but both of their chances are slim.
