Emerson attempts no-look pass that results in goal kick

Emerson Royal’s no-look pass in the 86th minute did not go as planned.

Tottenham Hotspur met Sporting CP at home last night in the Champions League. The Portuguese side took the lead through former Spurs player Marcus Edwards, before Rodrigo Bentancur leveled the score in the 80th minute.

Three points for Spurs would have ensured qualification for the round of 16 of the competition. In the 86th minute, as Tottenham chased the winning goal, Emerson Royal attempted a brave piece of skill given the pace of the game.

While trying to get past Bryan Gil’s substitute, Emerson attempted a pass without looking. The ball not only did not reach Gil, but went directly out of play and caused Sporting’s goal kick.
