Dortmund’s Bellingham plan becomes clear amid LFC links as Florian Plettenberg issues summer transfer update

Borussia Dortmund appear resigned to losing Jude Bellingham in the summer if Florian Plettenberg’s Twitter update is to be taken into account.

The Sky Sports Germany reporter conveyed an update from Marc Behrenbeck on the German team’s interest in partly reinvesting the potential fee received by the England international on World Cup star Mohammed Kudus.

The Ghana international impressed on the international stage in Qatar (to such an extent that connections reportedly surfaced between Liverpool and the 22-year-old) and has already been told he will leave Ajax in the summer.

It’s a positive sign for all concerned, if the claim put forward is accurate, as it signals more than just a summer outing for the highly-rated England star.

From Dortmund’s point of view, it’s a transfer that makes a lot of sense for them given that the player would fill the void left by Bellingham and presumably have potentially high resale value should they look to dump Kudus in the future.

Hopefully, if the Bundesliga-based outfit have a replacement loaded and ready for the summer window, it could allow us to move quickly on the market, leaving our domestic and European rivals with little time to prolong negotiations.

It’s all purely academic talk, of course, if we can’t make it back to the top four this term, which seems increasingly unlikely, without a midfielder being signed during the winter window.
