Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has revealed intimate details about what goes on in the Manchester United dressing room.
In an interview with the club’s internal media, Van de Beek revealed who he gets along with the most in the United squad.
Asked who his best friend was at the club, the 24-year-old replied: “My best friend at United? Good question.”
“I have some guys that I’m good with, I’m good with Luke [Shaw]for example, but also with some other guys with whom I do some things outside of football”.
“Luke is one of the guys that I have a good connection with. Some other guys too: in the past, we had Nemanja Matic or Juan Mata, and we went out to dinner sometimes or to eat after training. I think it’s good to do that to relax sometimes.”
The Dutch international revealed that playmaker Bruno Fernandes was the main player responsible for controlling the music in the locker room.
According to Van de Beek, this is a break from last season, where each player was allowed to add a song.
Of Bruno’s behind-the-scenes role, the Dutchman said: “Now, I see Bruno with the box, so he does all the music. I like some of his songs, but not all of them”.
“I think it’s good. Different, all the things, he even played some Dutch music in the dressing room once.”
The former Ajax star is hoping to use the international break as a springboard to a place in the starting eleven.
He is one of the few United stars not to participate for his countries on international duty after Louis van Gaal left him out of the Dutch squad.
Fans are hoping that the player has overcome an injury that saw him miss the last few games for the club and that he will be available for selection ahead of a busy and congested schedule in October.
