Frosinone manager Guido Angelozzi spoke about Federico Gatti’s transfer to Juventus and revealed that Napoli was the first to contact him to sign him.
The defender signed for Juve in January, but the Bianconeri allowed him to finish last season on loan to the Serie B outfit.
He was in top form in the first half of that campaign and was labeled by many as the best defender in the Italian second division.
Several top-flight clubs wanted to add him to their squad, but Juve came out on top.
However, he could easily have been on Napoli’s books had Juve not acted quickly, according to Angelozzi.
He said, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb:
“There was the possibility, precisely, with Zerbin in the deal. We made a specific request to Napoli which, however, had to wait. Then Juventus took over and got ahead of the Azzurri. Giuntoli for Gatti, he called me every week, Napoli was the first club to deal with him.”

Gatti was one of the best talents in Serie B and our interest meant that we were favorites to sign him.
However, the intention of adding him to our team was not enough, so it made more sense for us to move quickly to close the deal.
